Welcome to Curvy Girl Yoga! This short course gives you an introduction to practising yoga as a plus-size/curvy woman. It's a clear path from thinking "Yoga's not for me" to "I now have the tools to make yoga accessible & comfortable".


You've been wanting to practice yoga but haven't found a class that suits you. This beginners course offers valuable tips to help you safely practice yoga in a big body.

- What equipment do I need to practise yoga?
- You certainly need a yoga mat. They can be bought online. It's also helpful to have the following: A yoga bolster 2 x yoga blocks A yoga strap They can also be bought online. If you don't have them or don't want to invest in them just yet, they can be substituted as follows: A yoga bolster - A large cushion or pillow 2 x yoga blocks - 2 large, thick books A yoga strap - the belt from your dressing gown
- I have sore knees & find kneeling difficult. Can I still come to class?
- There are many reasons for sore knees & finding kneeling a challenge. Please check with your medical practitioner that it is safe to practise yoga. If they say no, you should listen to their advice. If he/she says yes, you can always buy knee pads online. If you don't want to use knee pads, or they don't make things any more comfortable, please contact me & we can discuss ways to make the yoga postures accessible for you. - I have a bad back, can I still practise yoga?
- There are many reasons for a bad back. Please check with your medical practitioner that it is safe to practise yoga. If they say no, you should listen to their advice. - I find it a challenge getting down to the floor & back up again. Does this matter?
